BEHIND
We spend our lives facing the world. Smiling when expected. Composing our expressions. Controlling what others see.
But the body does not lie. The way shoulders drop after a long day. The angle of a head when no one is watching. Hands that grip or release without permission. The back carries what the face refuses to show.
BEHIND is a series of paintings where figures are seen from behind. Not because they are hiding. Because from this angle, the performance ends. What remains is posture, tension, weight, breath. The honest language of a body that has stopped pretending.
Each figure sits on a different chair. A stool, an armchair, a wooden seat. The chair shapes the posture. The posture shapes the emotion. The viewer sees someone from behind and, without thinking, begins to feel what that body feels.
The series began with a single painting of a boy on a chair. It was not planned as a series. It became one because the first image opened a door that could not be closed.
Every painting in BEHIND is an invitation. Not to look. To sit down. To turn away from the noise. And to notice what your own body has been carrying.
